Has anyone experienced a hypo following a bit of a scare ? This has happened twice now to my daughter though of course there may be other variables. The first was back on holiday in May when she was scared of someone in a costume, after the event a horrible 1.9 😱 then yesterday at a friends house a freaky looking doll emerged and there were immediate tears and "it's scary" and time on the knee. 10 mins later she was drained of colour and her hands were shaking, tested her 3.8.
I have read stress can increase BGs but nothing re: this

Just a thought, but could it have been the other way around? The low bgs might have triggered the emotional response?

Aww sorry to hear about the scarey doll and hypo.
Some people do go low when they have had a fright though or stressed.

I'm one of them and have read loads of other people saying the same thing.
Hope all is well now.

I'm so sorry to hear that your daughter has been scared twice recently. That really isn't very nice especially when both times she has also had the unpleasant feeling of a hypo. I've never experienced a hypo because of a fright but as the symptoms of being very scared are similar to a hypo the fright might highlight that the BG is low and might make the fright seem worse (hope this makes sense)

Thanks for the replies, had considered the chicken and egg situation, which came first - couldn't necessarily rule this out, her post lunch reading was 7.8 and usually fairly steady 'til tea time but who knows? Can't remember as far back as May but was very surprised with that hypo being so low - that gave me a fright !! Will have to keep an eye on the matter. 🙂
