Frankly, why on earth are you testing after 2 hours? You aren't a T2 producing any insulin yourself, you're stuck with manufactured stuff like the rest of us T1s. It does not behave like a normal human pancreas. It is therefore unrealistic to expect your BG to always come down to pre-meal levels after only 2 hours, with every single meal you eat. Wouldn't that be lovely?

If it had come down to pre-meal level after 2 hours - then you'll just be hypo before the bolus has run it's course - and have to eat again to stop it!

Absolutely agree with Jenny (TW). Your insulin will be acting over 4-5 hours, at 2 hours there is a lot left to run (and some food too more than likely).

As an aside, guidelines at 2 hours post prandially are below 9 for T1s. That (for me) is the perfect result, and cannot be expected every time.

9 vs 9.7 is the same blood sampled by 2 different strips.

Short version - I completely understand your frustration, but try to relax. You are doing fine, and a 10 or 11 here or there will not immediately cause you any problems at all.

Perfection isn’t possible. You need to cut yourself a little slack now and then. Celebrate the good results and be kind to yourself and learn from the others.

My numbers come down after two hours sometimes to pre meal and I don't then hypo. We are all different! That is what makes type one so much fun! :D

I was reading your post meal levels, and thinking well that is not bad.
As others have said our insulins take a bit of time to get their job done.
So if you are 9.7 after two hours well done.

You are diong very well and so helpful to others. I do understand your frustrations but we just do not have the technology to be perfect. All we can do is the best we can. I know you have helped and encouraged me when I have been screaming at my diabetes, and here is a (((( hug )))) from me.

Nothing to add really except to reinforce what has been said. And a massive congratulations and well done for trying something different!

Twice this week I forgot my breakfast bolus and only realised an hour after breakfast. And I am 26 years in. A bit of a spike but it soon came down so nothing to worry about. Try and think what you would say if you read your post. I am sure you would encourage the person and tell them they were doing well and not to worry!

Yep Kaylz. A lot of 'getting complications' is sheer LUCK. It simply has to be because no way Pedro has my control EVER been as good as your has been since diagnosis - it wasn't medically possible for the first 15 years - and it was all guesswork for years after that.

Just do your best mate but most importantly don't STRESS about it!
