Hi all,

Has anyone had and got better from 6th cranial nerve palsy?

If so, what did the doctors aay was the cause and...

...if the problem eventually got better - how long did it take please?

Thanks.

Hi, I'm afraid I can't answer your question and it's not something that I've heard other members mention, but that's not to say that someone who is reading this might be able to - we get many people reading the forum who are not members.

Is this something that is affecting you, and if so, for how long? From reading about it, it appears that the initial treatment is prismatic correction followed by (potentially) surgery.

Wishing you well, and hoping for a positive outcome for you.

Hi,

Thank you for taking the trouble to reply to my initial post.

As a newbee I appreciate your post very much.

I am not surprised that 6th cranial nerve palsy is not a 'hot topic'.

However, for the first time on my life, I feel that I now need the support of a group - so thank you for this site!

On the 17th of this month I was driving and suddenly had double-vision that has not changed since then. One lens of my glasses has been covered and I have been told that my sight may return "in three weeks, three months or never".

An MRI in two days time (Sat 5th) may help find the cause - it is possible that I've had a bleed.

My research has also highlighted the fact that this may be due to diabetes and high blood pressure/stress so, if anyone has any info, it would be great to hear from you.

Thanks again.

You're very welcome, it must be a very troubling time for you. I hope things go well with the MRI, and that they are able to give you more information so that at the very least you may have a firmer idea of what may have happened and how it may be corrected.

Have you been diagnosed long?

I've had Type II for some years and been on insulin since December 2009.

My sugars are generally high so this is a wake up call I think.

Thanks again for your interest and support.

Diabetes is insidious - we can feel fine and then it decides to throw something at us :( What sort of insulin regime are you on? Perhaps we can help with suggestions based on our own experiences? Do you have access to a specialist diabetes clinic or are you generally seen by your GP?

Hi Essexboy, welcome to the forum. Thats wrotten luck with the eye problems, good luck with the MRI scan.
