60 years on insulin thanks to NHS and FAMILY

well having spent the first 6 months in west suffolk hospital ww2 huts started on 27 august 1957 at the of 12 .
tv shows on sat were 65 SPECIAL ,DIXON OF DOCK GREEN .and THE LONE RANGER.
long days in hospital did not leave until jan 1958
jugs of salt water ears were used to take blood s no hbac1 then and no blood sugars told could do better when urine testing was blue for good orange bad and the lad next bed had been shot by a shotgun when standing next to a hedge some pellets would have to stay embedded
used to be taken out to a cafe in bury st edmunds for a treat , as no schooling was done in hospital .
and got to school i came out in 4 year of school top
but thanks to me learning all about the big d condition
all the docs
5 NHS HOSPITALS AND HOSPITAL MY FOUR YEARS ON DIALYSIS
AND A KIDNEY TRANSPLANT IN 2006 EYE TREATMENT BY LASER AT MOORFIELDS LONDON WAS VERY SCARY
so my sons got me my 60 years medal great .
but a big thanks to my wife my sons and every NURSE DOCTORS and friends still going steady plus all the very latest gadgets pumps ect thanks a lot vic hill on insulin pump

Well done on achieving so much. The tech we have today is brilliant isn't it.

Wow. Most people would be oblivious to how the condition was treated in the past. Quite fascinating to read but not so much to live through I suspect. Kudos. 🙂
