Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Evening all and hello from sunny Scotland. I've just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in the last couple of weeks, bit of a shock to the system. Went to the docs for something else altogether, I suppose I'm lucky it was caught early enough, we hope. I've already changed my lifestyle and diet a bit and have lost 7kg since, so chuffed with that. I'm hoping this group will inspire me to keep going, as well as giving me helpful advice.

That is an amazing weight loss, what changes have you made?
Have a look at this link for some good explanation and some ideas for modifying your diet. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/
Many people find a low carb approach is successful but some follow low carb or shakes based regimes but it can depend on where you are in the diabetes zone but whatever you choose has to be enjoyable so you can sustain it for the long term.
What is your HbA1C that gave you your diagnosis and are you taking any medication as that will help people to make appropriate comments and advice.
The Learning zone at the top is also a good place to look.

Hi there, I'm not too sure about the numbers im afraid, so much to take on board but my gp is signing me up for an app in my healthboard area, my diabetes my was, if I remember correctly and she said my blood results amongst other things will be on that for me to refer to.

Regarding food, as a wee kickstart, I signed up for mindful chef food boxes the last two weeks for my evening meals, cut out fresh OJ every morning, no diet fizzy juice, switched from white to brown/lentil pasta and bought smaller plates to help me with portion control. Salads with boiled egg or avocado for work lunches, soup and oatcakes when I'm home. Snacks of berries instead of melon, grapes, pineapple or some humus and chopped peppers and cucumber or

I do feel better and a few colleagues have noticed my uniform a little looser on me, happy days.

I'll do another wee post once I know my numbers and keep you updated on my progress. Cx
