My DSN was a lot happier with my results than I was, which I suppose is good. I was told an HbA1c of 48 meant my blood glucose was below 7mmol/L for a good portion of the time, although my home monitoring rarely showed it. I am not anaemic. My LDL cholesterol is appalling though - the way my liver functions, not my diet - so I am to be prescribed Bezafibrate to bring it down, and have another review in 3 months time.
I mentioned my continuing need to wee and thirst at night, and was told there was most likely an element of insulin resistance, which should improve as my weight fell. She told me I would not be suitable to take Metformin, due to my existing bowel disease and previous adverse reaction on my bowels to statins. I am below the threshold for Glicizade, so would be at risk of hypos as well as have driving problems. So we continue with just the diet and exercise regime. Here's to being pre-diabetic or better in 3 months time. 🙄
