I’m 5ft7 and I was 18 and half stone at diagnosis the only symptom I had was recurrent thrush which to be fair is enough, my nurse said right I’m not even going to start you on metformin let’s give it 12 weeks and show me what you can do and then we’ll reassess the situation I lost 3 1/2 stone in the 12 weeks and got my hba1c to 45 ,I’ve lost 5st now, I still have 2 to lose so I’m hoping I can get it down a bit more from 38 all my other stats that were already good stayed about the same despite the rapid weight loss lol but I move a lot more now than I ever have and I still don’t eat bread or potatoes I still haven’t put them back into my diet yet xI believe the GPs at my surgery are all fairly young so I'd hope they are up to date with some of the work that has been done by Taylor and Unwin. She did call late in the evening (It was supposed to be between 2 and 5) and seemed in a rush, but did say 'lose a stone in weight [I was overweight] and it might go into remission.'
I'm giving them a bit of leeway because the coronavirus crisis has put surgeries under pressure.
