23!!!! whaaaaaa!

So I'm sat in the pub went to loo, washed hands with this foamy soap stuff and checked my sugars......nearly fell off my stool with what I saw! 23!! I know this is not right as I feel absoloutly fine and I can usualy feel when I am over levels of 10 as I start to fall asleep! So washed hands again without soap and got a reading of 15 which is better but still not quite right

so can some soaps affect blood sugar readings??? Confused!

Soap & water or hand wipes can affect blood sugar readings if still wet when you prick your finger and apply the blood sample to the meter. These things can dilute the blood sugar and give you a false reading.

I bet that was scary! I always wash my hands in plain 'bar' soap when I test. When I was first diagnosed a friend told me that liquid soaps and 'beauty' soaps have moisurisers and often stuff like glycerine in them that can affect our readings. Also beware of the fruit scented stuff too for the same reason. XXXXX

Ah I had no idea! I knew baby wipes sometimes affect my readings but didn't think soap did so much! It did smell very scented I shud have known better really! Well I'm going to give em a good wash with just water and test again I think!

Washed hands again tested one hand....14! Tested other hand....20!

Totally and utterly confused!!! No way am I that high I feel fine! I usualy know when I am above 10 coz I really feel it

Can you do a control solution test

Home now, did control test was 7.4 according to the strip pot it should have been between 6-8 so that was fine!

Washed hands under warm water for ages lol and im now seeing results of around 12-13mmols.....so not really good but alot better than 23!! i find it strange that im not getting any high symptoms like i usualy do tho

Same here r.e no signs of highs, usually like yourself if i go above double figures i become incredibly tired and irritable,but not lately...I hope the figures come right down DG its annoying when we cant find an answer for things like this

I had this a few months ago with a supermarket own brand of shower gel, usually over the 20s I feel really tired and headachey but kept getting reading of 18+

After lots of washing hands it was around the early teens, I've gone for one thats PH friendly and for sensitive skin which seems to have helped 🙂

I always trust by a good bar of Dove soap 🙂 I feel its most neutral although i've had times when i've been around 13-15 feeling pants but at 19 i've felt fine!!! mad 🙂
