Tonight at 21:09 it will be precisely 21 years since I stopped smoking, after being a smoker since I was 12 (which makes it 21 years as a smoker!) 🙂 Best thing I ever did for my health! 🙂

Anyone trying to stop this year?

Well done you *clap*

I'm a long way behind you but on 7/02/2016 at 6.30am I will have been stopped for 1 year after 45 years. :D

Well done.

Well done Northerner and Lynn

Wow well done both of you!! It'll be 6 months since I've started using my ecig instead of real cigs. I've had a cheeky one every now and again when drinking but!

Well done you!

It's been so long now, I can't remember the day or hour, but it will be 35 years in May. Well done all of you who've also kicked the habit, and, anyone contemplating it, you CAN do it.

Well done Alison xx

In July it will be 21 years since I gave up smoking. I didn't use patches or anything else made to make it easier, I just stopped and that was that.

Nor me! Well done to you too! 🙂 It takes about 3 weeks to get over the nicotine addiction then it's just a case of breaking the habit. I watched a programme about Allen Carr on the Friday evening, bought his book the following day and read it over the weekend - never smoked again! 🙂 I'd recommend his book to anyone 🙂

I did the Allen Carr book too. Spent my time reading it thinking this won't work, but it was amazing. Haven't looked back since. That was 20 years ago.
12 though Northie, you rebel 😱:D

Hehe! About 9/10 of my mates smoked back then - it was the 1970s! 😱 I became evangelical about 'the book' and persuaded all the smokers at my company to read it - they ALL stopped! Not only that, but they persuaded partners, parents and siblings to read it, and they ALL stopped! 🙂 When I went to work for a different company I noticed a sign up on the staff notice board asking who wanted to stop smoking - I discovered that it was someone who had read the book and stopped, and was now like I was - all evangelical about it and wanting to tell everyone about it! 🙂 When I moved jobs again I came across a guy who had actually been to Allen's seminars twice, but had failed to stop, so not foolproof, but by far and away the best stopping method I know of. Patches gum and e-cigs just keep you addicted to nicotine, whereas the book just demolishes any 'reason' you think you have to continue smoking 🙂

Congrats, Northy and anybody else who's given up smoking. I've never smoked but I'm convinced it's no small achievement.

Been on e-cigs for nearly 2 years now. Some may consider this the easy way out as I'm still taking on nicotine, but as far my Dr is concerned (and my lungs) I'm a non-smoker

I am the same Bob - been now nearly a year and cut the nic down to 6mg - next drop will be to 3mg and then hopefully will have smashed the habit altogether. Need to keep my shineyitis under control though!!
