Hi All,

I was doing really well (100-120) while on NovaRapid before meals and Lantus at night. A few months ago I started Lyxumia and Metformin and now my blood tests are now at 200-250. My diet has not changed much (low carb). I made an appointment with my doctor but it will take a week to see him. I stopped Lyxumia and Metformin and went back to NovaRapid before meals along with Lantus at night. Is this a good idea? Suggestions?

Whereabouts in the world are you based @gurevitz?

You seem to be using mg/dl measurements rather than the mmol/L that we use in the UK

These sound like questions for your healthcare professionals really. People here can only share their own experiences as no one is qualified to give medical advice.

I am an American living in Israel and I prefer English medical info. I did not know the measurements were different in the UK. If I am correct, 200-250 is 11.1 to 13.9 and 100 to 150 is 5.5 to 8.3. I have an appointment with endocrinologist next week so will wait to talk to him. Thanks for the quick reply.

Has going back on to Novo before meals done the trick? cos you didn't tell us that? You also didn't tell us the reason why your Dr suggested the swap - why did he? Was it his thought that the Novo was causing you a problem or merely that swapping to a weekly jab would be easier for you personally than at every meal?

Good news. Levels are down. I met with my endocrinologist and he put me back on Lyxumia, Lantus and Metformin. He told me to use Norarapid as needed but if I eat healthy I should not need it. I thought about why my sugar went up and honestly, I wasn't eating the best. Avoiding the carbs and sweets is hard but I have to find the self control to not eat them. Today I made an almond flour mug cake...hmmm.
