Hi gang I hope you are all staying safe.
should I test myself against a non-diabetic if we had the same meal, my situation is this a few months ago my DN put me down to one tablet a day [sukkarto SR 500mg which i take first thing in the morning and said i don't need to test BG daily anymore maybe once a week if any also don't need to report to the DN anymore, they wanted my BG to be in the range 5 mmol and 8 mmol which it has been since last year, i tested the other night because i indulge in fish and chips did not eat all the batter or the chips the fish was huge i think it was 2 hours after my BG was 8.1 mmol then about 1 to 2 hours later it was down to 6.4 which for me is about normal what I'm trying to say is like i eat normally as if i wasn't diabetic i do watch how many carbs and sugar intake and try to keep it to a minimal amount i do exercise daily. if I'm on 1 tablet a day how long does the tablet last? I was on 3 at one point. Please what's your view on this could i be pre-diabetic, nondiabetic or just diabetic ? can i cure myself

There is no cure and if you need to take meds then your a diabetic so if you want off the meds and go into remission then your gonna have to tweak your diet.

Welcome to the forum @gogonuts

Your levels sound very positive, and your body seems to be responding well to the changes you have made to your menu.

As far as I remember, the DiRECT trial defines remission as two or more consecutive HbA1c below 48 with no medication.

My understanding is that Metformin medications tend to ‘ramp up’ over a number of weeks, and sort of soaks into your system, so changes in dose either up or down can take a while to settle.
