I have been using an Activa Nano for past 6 months using multiclix. I have been given a Mobile model using fastclix.
This latter model usually gives a reading of -0.3 to -1.3 over the old model for morning fasting. Evening before bed difference even greater ranging from +4.7 to -1.9. Control tests one both are ok.
Alright so I should not have checked them against each other - but I'm only human!!
As I am still gradually getting my levels in single figures in am and low teens before bed it is confusing. Any thoughts anyone?

Hb was somewhere in the 7s but was not told exact figure. As I thought my meds would be increasing was surprised to be told to wait another 3 months.
Currently Type 2 on 2x 500mg Metformin and 3x30mg Diamicron - a gliclazide

I have found different fingers can give different results I think it normal for that to happen so it should be OK.

All meters are allowed to vary in results + or - 20% so a test of the same drop of blood (lab test at 10) could read 8 or 12 with 2 strips from the same pot on the same meter and still pass the test.

Most results are far more accurate than that, but tiny differences between the amount of enzymes sprayed onto each strip and a host of other factors can contribute to differences with the same meter. Between meters there is more variation again.

As a rule, when changing meters I try to run a few tests between to see if there is a general trend of differences and bear that in mind when adjusting doses/setting targets etc.

They just aren't very accurate I'm afraid... But they are a heck of a lot better than weeing on a stick - and are usually good enough to give you a general idea of what's going on 🙂
