Well this is now the the end of month one of the rest of my life, I was not surprised when I was diagnosed, as my mother and her sister both had it.

I remember coming to this forum and being advised to test, test & test again which I do, the first time what a dogs dinner did I make of it, three strips and two lancets later a reading. I read Gretchen Beckers book, well worth it, recommended reading. I now have a far better idea and I have a supportive diabetic clinic at my surgery.

I have revisited my diet, the wife likes it as she is losing a bit of weight, as she eats the same, although she does want some chocolate next week.

I invested in the Bayer contour usb meter, as the software works on my mac, it even gives me trends over the last 14 days, pre-prandial average 5.5, post-prandial average 7.4, overal average 7.1.

I told my GP whilst I did not ask for for the diabetes, I intend to control and manage it, I will not let it take over.

I would like to thank all on the forum for the advice and support, hopefully in time I can do the same for others.

Cheers🙂
