Tested 2 hours after the meal and my reading is 7.2. Am really pleased and starting to feel a lot more confident. Thanks again for all the support and advice.

Hi @Maria Kennedy welcome to the forum I was terrified when I was diagnosed but the forum has helped me so much in the past 3 weeks I feel more confident and able to manage my diabetes now. Ask as many questions as you can there will always be support and help.

Thank you so much for all the advice, I'm feeling more positive today. I've ordered the Type 2 diabetes: the first year so look forward to reading that and also the carbs and cals book too.

Maria that book is a great investment for T2s...the DESMOND course you're attending is for newly diagnosed diabetics...you can do a google search & that will give you the details...T2 is very much down to individual management...lowering the carbs...we all have different tolerances to different foods...testing will help you find out what raises your blood sugars & what helps you maintain a good level...if I were you I would try to have a read before you attend the course...on the course I attended they discouraged testing...however by the time I attended it I was seven months into my diagnosis so had a reasonably good idea of what I needed to do...once you've attended the course...if you have any questions ( I'm sure you will have) post them here...good luck.
