0 carbers? Carnivores?

There won’t be anyone eating 0 carb because even lettuce has carbs.

As Lucy says, it’s pretty much impossible to eat no carbs at all, you’d have to exist entirely on unprocessed meat. However, if you are looking to reduce your carb intake as far as possible, then you need to concentrate on unprocessed meats, eggs, fish, cheese, green veg, and avoid pasta, potatoes, cereals, rice, fruit and all the obviously sugary foods. Take care with drinks too, avoid fruit juices! Root veg contains more carbs than leafy veg, berries are the lowest carb fruits, apples and oranges in the middle and then tropical fruits like bananas and pineapples contain the most sugar. And grapes. Things like onions and peppers would be OK in an omelette or something like that. So you could have a Sunday roast and just leave out the potatoes and have more of the meat and other veg instead. Or steak and salad. Bacon and eggs. Omelettes flavoured with ham, cheese and mushrooms. And so on.

I am so low carb that even the shakes meal replacements were too much - I have had some days when breakfast was eggs and cheese and dinner some cooked meat from the previous day, with the only plant based intake some lemon tea or coffee with cream.
Even on a normal day I might have a tin of tuna for my first meal and 1/4 of a punnet of coleslaw or a tomato so under 10 gm of carbs.

An only meat diet would be expensive and unhealthy IMO. There are a few people online who do it, but it doesn’t appeal at all. Current guidance is to base your meals on plants, so a carnivore diet goes against that. We don’t have the teeth or gut for it.

I'm referring to people who don't eat from the plant kingdom.
Haven’t you answered your question about what 0 carbers eat?
If nothing from the plant kingdom, it must be from the animal kingdom - fish, meat, dairy and eggs.

What is your reason for asking?
Are you struggling to manage your diabetes and looking for an alternative approach?

I follow a low carb way way of eating (definitely not 0 carb as I like onions and peppers and tomatoes and cabbage and lots of other veg and berries and the odd apple and dairy produce etc) but it means I also have to inject insulin to cover the release of glucose from protein and fats, so it isn't a means of avoiding insulin if you are truly insulin dependent. Eating just meat and fish would be very expensive and incredibly boring and just hard work in my opinion and not overly healthy long term without those micro nutrients from all the colourful vegetables and fruit.

I generally have meat or fish once a day for dinner, but tend to eat dairy/eggs for breakfast and lunch. I have my meat and fish with vegetables, mostly leafy greens and hardly ever eat potatoes.

Desperately need off the insulin but need to eat lower carb diet options.

I haven't seen any affordable vegetables so I wouldn't be missing any going carnivore or 0 carb.

But surely meat would be more expensive than veg? It’s usually cheaper to eat plant-based.

If you have weight to lose then that might help. Not everyone with Type 2 can stop insulin totally, but losing weight should help. How many units of each insulin do you take per day?

Have you looked at frozen veg?

A decent sized fresh cabbage costs about 70pence here on average and you can make several really tasty meals out of it with a couple of onions and a tin of tomatoes and a few beans and some Indian spices. Finding meat for that price that would last you for one meal would be tricky, let alone several meals.

How many carbs are in the two cups of soup that you have been having?

I use 100 units of toujeo a day.
My meal time insulin varies based on the amount of carbs eaten.
My 60 pound weight loss so far has been useless in terms of health improvements but maybe I needed more.

I'm not sure. Eggs are 4 dollars a dozen at some stores more at others. A 30 calorie broccoli crown is 1.99 to 2.99. Ground beef is 7 dollars a pound. Chicken goes for 7 to 10 dollars a pound. Sweet potatoes up to 2 dollars a pound. Tomatoes nearly 4 a pound.
