I was speaking to my lovely diabetic nurse on Friday , at the moment i use accu-chek aviva expert with my carb counting but she was saying they are discontinuing with the meter and there is nothing else out there .
she asked me to look at the libre but how do i work out my carbs as the lira only gives you your blood readings ?
I have so many other illnesses and this is stressing me out

The Libre as a BG monitor with strips has a bolus calculator function as well but you must finger prick to be able to use that function, Accu-Chek are advising the Accu-Chek Mobile meter paired with the MySugr app as that way the app can do a bolus calculation so your nurse isn't strictly correct I'm afraid xx

You can use MySugr with any meter and/or the Libre if you enter the BG readings manually.

she mentioned the abbot libre and is my mobile phone operation system 5 or more which i have no idea or any of my family !
she said to keep my meter going as long as possible but surely they will stop making test strips !!!! I have so many other health issues trying not to stress out

You can find out the operating system of your mobile by entering its settings, it wont bolus calculate though as it requires the meter and a blood sample, if you get prescribed the Libre on the NHS though you generally get supplied with a starter kit meaning you get the actual Libre meter too so it would just be a case of persuading them to prescribe the test strips too although they are more expensive than the expert, the expert is planned for discontinuation in December however there are no plans for them to stop manufacturing and supplying the Aviva strips, I enquired about that a few months ago when I was first aware of the discontinuation, here's a screenshot of their response, does that put your mind at ease a bit? Xx

Thank you all for your help , can relax now xxx

Yeah the Insight pump meter/handset still uses the same test strips as do other Roche Accu-Chek meters.
