Quick query, when I test 2 hours after eating, do I test two hours after I start my meal or two hours after I finish? Or doesn't it matter?

Ooo good question - I’d say after finishing, but wait for someone a bit more certain to respond as I’m semi-guessing.

I've only just started but have been doing it from the end... just want to get it right!

There is no right or wrong as far as I think. My feeling is that it does not matter as long as you are consistent. That way you are doing your best to eliminate one variable when making comparisons.

Unless you are attending banquets, the difference between the beginning and end of a simple meal is unlikely to affect the general impression of how your body is coping. You body does not work that precisely, nor that quickly.

That reassuring, thanks

The usual thought is to test just before starting to eat, and then two hours after that - but it is simply because it is easy to do, I think. It gives you a time, two hours from the first test, so no doubt about it.

10 minutes isn't going to make that much difference.

I did 2 hours after I'd finished but then I don't eat big meals so there isn't much difference in time when I start to when I finish, 10 minutes at most xx

I would make the checks 2hrs apart, (so 2hrs after the start of the meal) because the premeal check is automatically timestamped 🙂

Oh yes, On some meters (inc SD Code Free) you can mark readings as pre meal, and the next reading will be stored as an after meal. And the meter will give a reminder to test. I believe this can then be used by some meters when producing reports. Instead of just having a list of readings.
