Hi,
Ive been T2 for a few years now and not really controlled it very well. I really want to change that. My question is....If Im really thirsty and pee alot, does this give a good indication my BM is too high?
Im also struggling with being tired and having night sweats.
Thanks in advance

With out testing your bloods you won't know for sure but it is odds yours are highish.

Hi. Yes, it probably indicates high blood sugar. Do get hold of a glucose meter so you can measure how high you are. The best approach to control to start with is a is the low-carb diet

Hi. I agree with grovesy and DaveB. You're displaying classic signs of high BG, but you will only find out how high if you get a test.

One thing you must bear in mind is that once your BG gets into double figures your kidneys will start getting rid of the excess glucose through your urine and over time this can damage them, so it's vitally important that you get better control. At the very least your BG should be in single figures.

Can I ask in what way have you not controlled it very well?

Martin
My diet was awful and I was drinking too much alcohol. But I feel ive turned a corner and want to get it right now.

Hi nik,
I've been t2 for last 12 years. Gave up alcohol in December and sorted my diet out. I've lost 3 + stone so far Hba1c gone from 85 to 45 in the space of a year. Always been a heavy drinker but can't believe the results.
Good luck

That’s great to hear @NikT1973

You can’t chane what has gone before, but you can move on from any mistakes, and change what comes next.

And yes, increased thirst and needing to wee more are signs of BG over 10 (the point at which the kidneys try to flush out the excess glucose by weeing more, which then makes you thirsty.

Welcome to the forum. We have lots of friendly, helpful folks here who will help and support you as you try to get your BG more in range. Just ask away with any questions you have. nothing will be considered too obvious or ‘silly‘ 🙂
