Hello diagnosed last week sorting out diet going forward meal plans sorted, but middle of the afternoon feel sluggish, tired can anyone suggest anything to have between lunch and tea. I'm type 2 and work 12 hour shifts so any advice would be appreciated

Hello @Tinners
I hope that you found all the links etc from your last posting useful.
Good to hear that you've now sorted out a meal plan - It must be quite difficult to fit this in to a 12 hour shift pattern.

Yes - that mid-afternoon slump can be difficult to get through. I find that a hot drink helps, but sometimes need something more.
Some things I use are: A few nuts (usually almonds, walnuts or brazils), celery sticks with soft cheese or hummus, hard boiled eggs, chicken drumstick. Understand that some of these could be quite difficult to have by you at work though, so may be you need to make them part of your food plan and have them with you.

Hello @Tinners welcome to the forum.

As you probably realise carbs are to be controlled to make sure
your Blood sugars stay in control too. As already said keep some almonds
with you, Lidl`s do a superb range of nuts, be careful with protein bars always
read the the back of the packet for carb figures, some are very high in carbs
and may increase your BS`s.

Do you work nights too? lovely motor bike by the way.

Hi Karnak, the reading I've done today nuts for a mid afternoon boost are probably the way forward, mo I work 12 hour days(power station) I will get some almonds,Brazil's etc, the bike is where I clear my mind on a sunny day.

Aldi & Lidl do their own range of nut bars which are quite low carb wise I believe at under 10g carbs per bar and there are a few here that are Type 2 that can handle one of those, also more expensive but VERY tasty are the Nature Valley protein bars, they come in 3 flavours - salted caramel, chocolate & peanut and coconut & almond, they are all under 10g carbs per bar as well xx

Good for you @Tinners as @Kaylz said Nature Valley have a good range.
