It might be worth feeding the info back to your consultant if it works. My specialist was shocked/aghast even, when I said that I had to wait so long at breakfast time but I had times and readings logged in my phone app to show him....I think it was the main point which caused him to sanction me for Libre sensors, because I was having to finger prick so often to find that morning sweet spot. Hopefully improving the knowledge of our consultants will help others who come after us....You can't really blame them for assuming the manufacturers guidance of 10-20mins pre bolus is set in stone because they are not using it and seeing the result and if you don't test after you inject, then the patient won't see it either, just the problem later when their BG comes rattling back down. This is where Libre comes into it's own .... can't wait to get started with it.

I bolus up to one hour before breakfast . Sometimes I can go for a half hour walk come back and my BG has gone up! Today I got a bit distracted and it was about 1 hour 15 mins, I had dropped to 4.6 from 6.4 but I’m thinking it could have been catch up from the 8 mile walk I did yesterday. It’s all good fun isn’t it? 😉 Hope you get sorted.

Definitely will report back to specialists any success's that I achieve consequent to advice received here.

Good luck with FSL, it's a great boon if a little paranoia making.

Welcome to the forum @robert Phillips

It was only when I got the Libre that I realised what spikes and variability I was getting between premeal tests. The timing of my Bolus for different meals, which changes through the day, was a major factor in reducing the sizes of the blips. I had always injected just before a meal, and had never heard of pre-blousing until I joined this forum. The timing for each is dependent on my BG about 30 min before, whether I KNOW when the meal will arrive (if in doubt I wait and accept the spike)

So many factors to consider. It keeps us on our toes.

bolus 15 mins before eating and NO SPIKE!!!!! today. still a crash though but can tweak that 🙂
Well done Robert. One step at a time.
Would a reduction in the Bolus help to avoid the crash, especially if
you are exercising straight after breakfast.

Glad to hear that! 🙂

I only started pre bolusing myself having learnt about from these forums in March 2018 & breakfast is the longest time I need of 15/20 minutes but, it’s made a big difference in my after readings: smaller & shorter spikes at 90 minutes after eating; used to be 2 hours after eating & a bigger spike that lasted longer in the 17 years previous to that! It’s never too late to learn!🙄

never too late to learn indeed, I've been poking up with this for yonks too but now see a chance of a fix. g'luk one and all. 🙄

Well - your profile says you're 72. Mine says I'm 70. I told the truth; no idea whether you did or not!

What was your premeal reading and two hours after eating?

pre meal (breakfast) 7.6 two hours apres - 3.8 ??? but thanks for asking😳
Well that's easily fixed change your carb ratio 🙂 Rule of thumb is hypo within 2 hours of a meal bolus then lower your bolus 🙂

Great to hear you've had some promising early results @robert Phillips

Good luck with the ongoing tweaks 🙂
