Hello,

I am not sure if this is OK to post here, so my apologises if it isnt appropriate (let me know and I will delete).

Anyway, lockdown is a time for experiments.
I have been reading about people who places the libre sensor on different locations and specifically on the upper thigh, just underneath where your trousers front pockets would be, and how convenient it is.

First I should say Abbott does not support different Libre sites, but I thought I should give it a go.
So this morning I applied a Libre sensor to my upper thigh (just underneeth where my front trouser pocket would be) whilst
I still have 2 days left on my old sensor which is at the normal place at the back of my upper arm. I did it like this so i can read both sensors at the same time to compare the result.
I have obviosuly only had it on for a day but the readings so far are almost identical between the 2 locations.
The convenience is that I can read the sensor without having to do some weird self hug, much easier to apply the new sensor and it is more hidden than on my arm. Which is very similar to what i have read online.
So far an interesting test.

Lots of people have experimented different sites. I have used my thigh when I was using libre and found it much more accurate.

Interesting, i will try it for the next 2 weeks and see if I have a good experience. It is certainly more convenient, and so far am i getting very similar readings between the arm and my thigh

There was a clinical trial which compared various locations and found on average across multiple users results were more variable and less reliable than upper arm if I remember right. If you are on FB there's a big and well-run Libre group which has great help documents and files - i bet the details are in there.

I am part of that group but I couldnt find the file.
I did some quick googling and found this https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29381253/
I know it is just one study but they say " Our results indicate that the accuracy and precision of FSL sensors placed on the upper thigh are similar to the upper arm.."

In the end, the only licensed place to put the libre is on the upper arm but so far I am getting very similar result to the sensor on my arm.
In reality though, i dont pay too much attention to the exact value of the Libre. As long as I am between 5 and 7, i only use it to see if I am going up or down. For everythign else I take finger prick.
Also because I use it with Spike, I calibrate all readings with readings from my blood, which I would like to think adds another level of accuracy
