I am not aware of anyone in Uk using these as yet.
Looking forward to it becoming available and hoping that it just follows on from provision of Libre 1.

I have seen a few floating around in the UK, but it has not been released over here yet.

Thank you for your reply. I hope, like you, that it won't be too much longer but I doubt it. We have all been waiting and waiting and no one seems to know ANYTHING!? Strange. I keep hearing proposed dates but nothing materialises. Can't Abbott give us a real clue? I'm fed up.
I feel it should just follow on as it costs the same price. Roll it on Abbott!

I contacted Abbott again this week, still; they will not give any reason why they have chosen to delay libre 2 in the UK. Time will tell....and the reason for the delay may eventually come to light.

I am not aware of any new Libre2 launches after the initial territories.

I think there may be some FDA shenanigans in play too.

I’m not sure where the UK sits in the queue mind you! There are a lot of countries very keen on getting access to Libre2!

I wonder where they came from? Obviously, whoever is using these Libra 2s must be able to get them continuously. I wish I knew who these lucky eople are. I would be willing to self fund Libra 2. That's how desperate I am to get it. Using Libra 2,with alarms, would change my life.
Maybe you can get Libra 2 online or from abroad or ???
Can anyone help please ?

It is on sale in Germany, I am not sure how you would be able to order online.

And presumably they aren’t available in the units/scales we use in the U.K. at the moment.

Good Morning Mr Diabetes!
Thank you for your reply.
Do you know if it's for sale in pharmacies over the counter in Germany or from Abbott Diabetes Care in Germany. But guess what? I am finding it difficult to get their phone number and Abbott in the UK don't know it! Eh?

From what i have seen the Libre 2 seems a bit of a let down.
It gives you alarms but no reading on what the value actually is, so you still have to scan to see what the value is.
Sounds like it is more of a v1.1 release than a full second generation.

If internet is anything to go by (and it may not be), has Abbott been working on a version 3 of Libre for quite sometime which will have full bluetooth integration.

How is it better than the Libre? Does it last longer? Does it have a new updated app?

Libre 2 offers high/low alarms. (Via, if I understand correctly, bluetooth to the Reader or a phone.) But I think that's the only change.
That would be useful to be honest I doubt they’ll just upgrade me to the new one when it’s released might mean more type 1 will get it prescribed though if it does become available on the nhs

The announcements that have been made suggest it would be (will be?) the same price and that it'll gradually replace Libre, so the assumption everyone made was that everyone would get it (though not necessarily all at the same time).

I wonder if the delay is that (after a while of people using it in Germany) it turns out not to be that much more useful and so they're having second thoughts about releasing it elsewhere?

I have not seen any mention on a third version anywhere.

According to 'Nerdabetic' did the CEO for Abbott (Miles White) announce in a recent investor call that Libre 3 has been in development for sometime.
, jump to 6:12

I suspect you can find a recording of the investor call somewhere on the Abbott website (but I couldn't when I looked now)

For me, being alerted and then having to scan to get the reading is pretty much the same as getting a CGM alarm and then having to fish out the reader and turn on the screen to check sensor glucose.

What it doesnt have at this stage I guess is ”transmitted to smart watch for glancability” or immediate seamless integration with an open source APS.

But I still see the alarms to alert you to check sensor glucose as a major step forward from Libre1 myself. If your hypo awareness isn't always 100% spot on, getting an early alert (my MM640 alarms at 4.6) so that you can take action *before* you go low is a really helpful functionality.

Mike, I absolutely agree with you in that alarms are super useful. I have several alarms set up and one of them is for '5 and falling', which is my version of being able to take action 'before'. I have found that if i catch it then I almost always manage to avoid a hypo
As i think i have mentioned before I use MiaoMiao with my Libre 1 so I get live readings of my blood sugars sent to my watch and phone, and if you use it with SPIKE you get more alarm options than what you could possibly want. You can even get the alarm sent to someone else (wife/parent etc)
I guess my dissappointment with the Libre2 was that I had assumed it would be at least as good as these 3rd party addons.
The lack of integration with smart watches, configurable alarms etc doesnt feel like 2020
