Am sitting outside the acute assessment unit of the hospital having taken my 16 year old into A&E. She asked me to test her bs as she had been drinking loads today and peeing a lot. She never asks, so I was instantly worried. I tested three times with three HIGHS. She is now on insulin and a drip. I am beyond sad for her. I'm not allowed in the ward and there are no visiting hours.
Oh @stephknits , I’m so sad to hear this! You did the right thing in getting her into hospital & try to take comfort from that although, you can’t see her! I hope that all goes well & I’m thinking of you both!
So sorry to hear about this @stephknits, but it is good that you have got her to the right place to get help.
Are you able to have a phone link to talk to her?

Awww Steph, so sorry to hear this. I can not imagine how you feel so all I can do is offer a virtual hug.
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))) for both you and your daughter.
Thanks all. Got home at 2.30 this morning. Am feeling absolutely shattered in every way. Your messages of support are so kind and very helpful. I can't think of anything positive to say to Alice. Will have to wait til the consultants have come round before we get any news.
Try not to feel too bad about that, your supportive actions will speak volumes louder. Acknowledging the lack of positives might be just what she wants to hear.
So sorry to hear the news of Alice’s admission to hospital.
She will simply be glad of your support. Thanks heavens for mobile phones.
However little she can say at present just having that contact will help.
Have you been able to contact her care team at all?
This is a huge worry for you and I send you many hugs. Although you cannot be with her and see her she is getting the attention that she needs. I am so glad that she had the sense to ask you. My experience is that some teenagers can be very secretive because these things happen to others and not to them in their minds. I hope that she will be back home soon and she has you to guide and help her. It will be alright but sad that it is so. Take care. Hope you can stay in touch by phone.

Hi Stephknits
So sorry to hear about your daughter. It’s all made extra hard to deal with with the no visiting policy.
I’m thinking of you all and hope she’s soon home with her family. Sending hugs xx
So sorry to hear this. You must be going out of your mind with worry. You need to rest yourself now and process what has happened and be in a better place for when Alice comes home. Much love.
Hi Steph, not sure how much the hospital told you but i have had a couple of admissions with the same thing.
Usually you are put on insulin and glucose drips and fluid just to stabilise those sugar lvls. Ive stayed in max, just a couple of days on observations and its amazing how quick that combination works so i hope she is home really soon.
Sending you a virtual hug and hoping all the hugs together are giving you a little lift.
Adam.
