Hi everyone,

I hope we are doing our best to keep well and safe in this period of great uncertainty with Covid-19. I understand this is a challenging period with staying at home, social distancing and all in a bit to cope with the coronavirus pandemic.

Sometime back, I posted the couples’ study on type 1 diabetes. I am still working on the study and I would be happy if people are still interested in participating.

King’s College London & Tavistock Relationships charity are looking for research volunteers who are: Persons with type 1 diabetes aged > 18 & their partner who have been in a relationship for at least one year after diagnosis to share their experiences. Please contact Prof Jackie Sturt Email: jackie.sturt@kcl.ac.uk

Best wishes,

Ansty

I know that myself and @stephknits volunteered for this study - then CV19 rather got in the way so nothing heard for a while by us anyway, dunno about Steph - however today I heard from Ansty again asking if I was still willing, which myself and Pete still are. Hence what I'm trying to say is - please also volunteer if you 'qualify' ! No identities are EVER revealed - it really truly is strictly enforced or they'd never be able to interview anybody for anything they were researching.

Hi Jenny,
Thanks so much for your support. It will help a great deal.

@Ansty - thanks for revealing that personal fact about yourself to us!

What an interesting profile name you have there, you want to share the inspiration

Well... it came about when we were starting a diabetes blog as a family (all members wrote from their own perspective about my diabetes).

It appealed partly because of the dual meaning of ‘everyday’ (ordinary, uneventful) and also ‘every day’ (relentless, repetitive, unending) variations. But mostly it was because it was available on the blog platform we had chosen 😛

The tag line is, “Because no two days with type 1 diabetes are the same. Except when they are.“

Yes, have heard from her, but not had the forms yet - must email again

The fact being that you have never actually lived with a person with diabetes or been 'that' exposed to us lot. It is as Mike explained, a true reflection of blood glucose measurements, as well as life in general anyway whether you happen to have diabetes yourself or not.

I thought that we had volunteered for this but then heard nothing back.
I will send another email.

Oh my sorry if we failed to respond to your mail and sorry for making you feel ignored. Please do resend another email. we will definitely respond to you. Thank you for not only being interested in participating in the study but also for being understanding with us. Thanks

I'm humbled by this and I am happy to learn from your vast experiences of everyday living.

Please don't be humbled - it is after all the biggest element of 'research' - ie it is done to LEARN ! 😉

(we hope …….. )
