I stood on the metal bit of my mouthguard and now have an inflamed insole. Someone mentioned hot water soaks followed by cold water soaks to get rid of the inflammation. Is this a good idea?

Hi @sillyme welcome to the forum.

I‘m afraid I can’t offer advice about how to treat your injury, but in terms of hot water generally, do you have any neuropathy or signs of loss of sensation in your feet? If so then it can be difficult to judge the temperature correctly and therefore scalding is a risk.

Are you able to call GP or pharmacist for advice?

GP sent me antibiotics which weren't at the pharmacy yesterday, my daughter is trying again now. This happened on Thursday morning then went to work for a 13.5 hr. shift and again yesterday!

Hello and welcome to the forum @sillyme 🙂 I hope you get sorted.

In which case, I probably wouldn’t follow the hot/cold soak idea. I’m sure the GP would’ve mentioned if it would be something you needed to do or that would help. Hope you can manage to get hold of the antibiotics today and get on the way to recovery quickly.

Thank you for your response, Lucy I do know about nerve damage when one has had the disease for years, so probably wouldn't have tried it, unless on the advice of my GP. Just to update you, have managed to get the antibiotics.

Good to hear you’ve been able to get the ABs now @sillyme

Hope your foot recovers swiftly. Take care of yourself 🙂
