Moving house has brought diabetic issues

I'm getting a bit worried that the GP Surgery I was registered in Woking is not making things easy for me now I've moved from Woking to Pewsey in wiltshire now we are in lock down. I cannot talk to anyone there all I can do is message them and they are just not interested in helping get my insulin. I need lantus but they are saying because I've moved out of the area its not their problem anymore and I've tried registering at my local surgery here and they say that they are not taking on any new patients? So what happens now?
 
HI @Alistair y - sorry this is proving difficult for you. Are you able to get in touch with your hospital team? A call from your DSN may help one or other surgery sort out a prescription for you.

Hi,

I found this online. This is the official guidance. It seems to be saying that you need to re-register with your old g.p if you move? Also if you do re-register, they don't have to do home visits. It also says, like you have said, a more local gp to where you now live doesn't have to accept your application to register there.

I'm sure someone on this forum will be able to give some useful advice.

Hi @Alistair y, and welcome to the forum.
I can understand your concerns bout accessing your insulin in these strange times.

It is quite possible that the administrators who are triaging calls may not understand the seriousness of your situation. Could you ask to speak to the practice manager at the local surgery and explain your situation, or as Lucy has said contact your DSN and ask for their help.

If all else fails you should be able to get an emergency prescription from a pharmacy.
 
Hi . Welcome to the forum. As you need Lantus , I suggest you contact 111 and explain the problem you are having.
are their any other Gp practices you could try registering with.
 
Thank you for your replies and I would just like to fill you in a bit more. My surgery is only contactable by a small admin message service so I cannot ask to talk to specific people maybe it's a third party org. The last time I saw a nurse was a few months ago. I didn't have a regular doctor and was given a house doctor if I ever needed to see one. Maybe one was assigned to me but I can't remember anyone specific.
 
Yes I can try some others and I am waiting for a reply. I guess I wanted to know what the procedure was when you move. I moved at a time when I could not contact my local surgery unless it was to do with coronvirus. So I left it until I came to my new home and just thought as it was a rural destination I could sign up with the local surgery but I was wrong.
 
But I take on board that if I don't have any luck with the surgeries here I can phone 111 if I get desperate thank you.
 
If you work any distance from where you live, I belive it's in the rules that you can register with a surgery near where you work. Instead of near where you live.
Are you still under a hospital?

Oh. I was under the impression that T1 were dealt with by the diabetic team at a hospital. At least for an inital period, and mostly stayed under under them.
 
No I've had it for 40 years and I never go to the hospital anything like eyes are done by other parties

I only get seen by my GP, I was discharged from the hospital about 10years ago.
 
I'd definitely ring 111 Alister - cos you'll soon be an absolute emergency unless you get a repeat prescription!
