I'm fine and haven't got symptoms but I want to get myself organised and know what to do if I do get the virus,Iooking on the internet it says that if you have symptoms visit 111 online and only call 111 if you can't get help online.
I'm wondering at what point would anyone provide you with any medicine if you need more than paracetamol
I'm wondering if you are given any antibiotics to have in case you end up with pneumonia, will your regular doctor be able to be called and how are you going to get any drugs to your home if you can hardly breathe?

Have any of you researched any of this,or perhaps know somebody that has had experience of the process?

I wouldn’t imagine antibiotics would help as it’s a virus, not bacteria - and I’m not aware of any link to pneumonia

The diabetes UK page has some pretty practical information on what to do if you have - or think you might have - Covid 19

It might be an idea to make sure you’ve got some food in the cupboards to tide you over for a few days if you needed to stay in for a week. Not crazy stockpiling, but just enough to see you through a few days? For instance, I’ve 4 pints of milk in the freezer for the first time in my life!

My son contacted this about 4-5 weeks ago, and they referred him to the GP to get his chest listened too as he had tightness in his chest.
Though now I think many areas are running what they call hot clinics where suspected virus patients are seen.

Thanks @grovesy that makes me feel better that I would possibly be reffered to a doctor,I would have to get Boots to deliver a prescription for me then if I couldn't leave the house,I hope that would all run smoothly

i was talking to my step sister in w yorks and although she has been isolating the worrying cough has started, going to be in touch in a few days to see how she is doing. i have a FB account where my relations post and will be going on at some point to see if there are any problems and concerns.

Hope your step sister is OK Mikey

when i spoke to her last week she seemed to be fine talking with no cough then when i spoke to her yesterday there was coughing going on, told her to keep an eye on it.

the problem on top of the covid is that there is a sore throat and cough virus which has also hit our area, the downside is lack of any testing.

any way many thanks for the kind message, mike.

Pneumonia is one of the serious complications of Coronavirus,on a lighter note an envelope has appeared in the post today giving some information about coronavirus so that was welcome

Ah thanks. Handn’t heard that. Just been reading about Boris Johnson in ICU, and it’s viral pneumonia it seems? So I’m not sure if antibiotics would have any effect.

I was looking at NICE recommendations that advises the doctors what to do if they suspect somebody may have pneumonia in a step by step guide,if they can't tell if you have viral pneumonia or bacterial as it's possible to have either,as bacterial pneumonia can present as a secondary infection, they can hedge their bets and antibiotics are given in that instance

I've had the pneumonia vaccination but that's for bacterial pneumonia and offers no protection against viral pneumonia. There's no vaccine for the latter as far as I know.

There are reports that anyone who's been vaccinated against tuberculosis may have a degree of protection against this particular coronavirus because the BCG vaccine works differently to other vaccines as it doesn't just prime the immune system to recognise a specific pathogen.

Search 'TB vaccine and coronavirus' if you're interested in reading any of the reports.

That's interesting,I would have had mine 30 years ago at school,I couldn't even tell you if I had another one since though, the only jab that I can remember was the standard flu jab last year,I don't think I got a jab for anything else when they did that,I went to Boots to get that done,to get it done quicker

I have managed to build up a good stock of paracetamol to treat a temerature,I had to buy expensive water soluble packs at £3.50 a time as I couldn't find the cheap packs anywhere,I have heard of some people having a temperature for quite a while
