Does anyone know how far off the Libre is when estimating the A1c, on average?

My sensors tend to err slightly under my actual BG, which must mean the estimate will be the same.

Current estimate is 7.1 but just want to manage my own expectations...

For me no they were off the last one I think was estimating 48 and I was actually 53. I was skeptical about the estimate. I also find the mySugr app estimate is not accurate for me either.

It varies widely from person to person I believe, when I had mine done in January my sensors had been 1mmol lower generally than a finger prick but my estimate was spot on my labs

I suspect it’s an individual thing, but my libre usually predicts around 42 (6.0%) and my HbA1c has been 48 (6.5%) for the past two years running. I know my libre reads lower at the bottom end, and that I get some periods of the night when I’m lying on it and get 'compression dips' which must bring the average down.

@Kaylz wow, yours is bang on, that's incredible. And an amazing result too, well done you. @Robin - yeah, i'm finding the lower end a bit misleading, it looks like i spend quite a lot of time in the red, but i'm actually not. Also another great A1c.

I was hoping to see a 6 but perhaps i'll not make that if my sensors have not been super accurate. I won't get my hopes up! But anyway - i've definitely improved on my last (and all-time worst) result.

I'll just set a goal for my next again clinic appointment to get into the high 40s.

Good morning @missclb
My readings on the Libre are generally a bit out from BG, and often a bit lower when I am low, and higher when I am high. This makes the match between estimated and actual HbA1c very variable.

What I tend to focus on a lot more is the percentage of time in range. This is also starting to be a bigger par of discussions at appointments. That is where the Libre is great as it helps you to head off the lows and highs. This will still include the variability in readings that are a bit out (due to time lag between interstitial reading (Libre) and blood glucose.

Libre usually suggests a lower A1c than the results I actually get. I would expect my actual result to be 0.5%-0.7% higher. Sorry! still can’t do ‘new numbers’ automatically 😛

Ditto here - I don't wear one all the time, but when I do, it tends to read low. For my last HbA1c: 34 actual vs 31 Libre estimate. So not a huge difference.

The sensors read consistently lower for me (a good one will be about 1 mmol/l below blood) and my first HbA1c after using it for a few months was way off - estimate 35 mmol/mol, actual 48 mmol/mol 🙄 However, the Libre has definitely improved my control, with far fewer lows and highs 🙂

Mine was with wearing for the full time between tests.
