Just thought a thread for folks who have either a confirmed, or suspected case of covid19 might be useful.

Plus updates on recovery, and how things are progressing for you.

Keep well everyone!

Not me personally , son came back from a a few days School Trip from France(Teacher), just before things took off in France. A couple of days after he returned he felt unwell thight chest, used to have Asthma. No fever but was off work 12 days. Did contact 111, he was sent to Surgery to have his chest listened to clear, no temperature. France was not on list for at risk country, so no testing. He is now ok.

Not personally - but we have now come to the conclusion that my son had it, about a month or so ago, before coronavirus became a word that we now no so well.

He thought he had very bad flu, but since the list of coronavirus symptoms got published he realised that he could put a tick on each one of them. High fever, breathing problems, strange tastes, headache, sore throat.
He didn't go to the doctor but was very poorly for about a week, then a bit below par for another couple of weeks and now back to his normal cheery self.
He lives on his own and is about 150 miles away from us, so we haven't been physically near him in this time, in fact not since Christmas - we were planning a visit about the time of his flu, but he insisted we stayed away.

At first I couldn't believe that is was coronavirus that he had had. Then I heard a news bulletin yesterday that said that it is likely that the virus was in the UK at least a month before there was general awareness.
Rob hadn't been out of the UK prior to his illness, but a few days before he had been to a business meeting with some folks from Seattle USA.

I know several people who have reached the same conclusion.

Of course it’s impossible to be sure without widespread availability of tests, but the symptoms seem pretty in line with ‘high fever and dry cough’

I have read reports that suggest it has been here since possible December.
I think my son possibly has had it, he did not have fever but had a tight , burning feeling in his chest. Had 13 days off work.

Just checking in on the current status of forum folks...

Anyone in the midst of it this week?

Hope you are managing OK, and only have it mildly.

that thing with the virus been here around Xmas, i and many in our area fell ill, mine was described as strange flu like symptoms without the flu, whatever was going on it was really awful to go through. if we were to be tested then i suspect it would show that many of us have all ready had the covid virus, the lack of is a major issue.

Interesting. My pharmacist niece reckons that something odd was going on in December because the number of prescriptions for respiratory problems was way beyond the norm for that time of year. She can't help but come to the same conclusion as you have.

There's a suggestion (not really believed by anyone as far as I know) that around half of people have probably had it. But that surely doesn't fit with what's being seen now (and what's been seen in other countries): this isn't just a slightly unusually nasty respiratory illness, it's something that (for a significant proportion) requires serious intervention in a hospital.

That doesn't feel like the sort of thing that might pass through the population quietly, noticed only by some pharmacists.

I was told over the phone that I had it, started with a cough, never got a temperature but did get quite ill, shortness of breath, not like my normal asthma as I wasn't wheezing. It got to a stage where just to talk tired me out. Got to speak with a doctor who did a video call, she said she wasn't sure, then phoned back after 1/2 hour and said "Discussing your case with my colleagues, we think you have the virus. Stay at home and if you get worse, phone 111"
I'm getting better now, back to my old self until I over do it, then I suffer, but so much better than I was.
Without the test, I cant say 100% it was the virus, and you don't get that unless you're admitted to hospital.

Hardly anyone is being tested. A few thousand out of the population of England, and not enough testing for any useful information to be assessed in the pattern of the virus.

I strongly suspect that there are many people who have had the virus, phoned their GP, and just stayed at home till they got better. That’s a zero entry in the stats.

The result of such population testing would reveal a far higher infection rate, and an associated drop in death rate as a result of the virus. It’s not a killer virus, for sure. If we had real info by testing we wouldn’t need to be on lockdown. It’s also why the new Nightingale hospitals are a complete waste of time.

My mum was very ill and admitted with pneumonia early january and we were wondering if she'd had it. My mum doesn't have a history of respiratory problems, so unusual for her.

It’s also why the new Nightingale hospitals are a complete waste of time.

I'm beginning to thnk you might be right there. Mind you, they have the added benefit of keeping killer whales out of the Thames.

Much better if we weren't where we are, sure. But now, it seems like it would be a courageous judgement to say that we won't need lots more capacity than we have.

I don't buy the idea that much greater testing would show that in fact we'd be OK (because in reality much of the population has already been infected and has recovered); that just doesn't seem consistent with (for example) Italy. Or New York, or many other places. (Some parts of London, for that matter.) Those look much more like a new infection spreading relatively easily through the population causing serious problems (requiring hospitalisation) for a minority of infected people.

Hi how long would you say that you felt ill from the first symptoms to feeling pretty much better?

Sorry to hear you’ve been poorly @megga

Glad you are on the mend now. 🙂

I think my family all had it. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. If it wasn't the virus it was something horrendous so what the heck was it? The cough was the worst part. No sniffles as such. Weird aches and pains. Mum had to have two lots of antibiotics. Wiped her out. She didn't even have the strength to roll over in bed. We had to roll her!!! Thank goodness I kept away from my son as I instinctively knew it was bad. I knew if he got whatever it was he wouldn't get through it. It must have been the virus surely?

Hi how long would you say that you felt ill from the first symptoms to feeling pretty much better?
It started with just a cough, I didn't feel unwell at all, in fact I felt fine, then after 3-4 days I started with my inhaler, my thoughts were, the cough was causing the shortness of breath. After 10 days I was quite poorly, I didn't like to talk as it tired me out, everything was getting a struggle. Things stayed the same, then after 16 day's I woke up a
Hi how long would you say that you felt ill from the first symptoms to feeling pretty much better?
It took around 16 days, things just got worse after the fist 8-9 days, that's when I started to struggle to hold a conversation.
everything was going down hill, then I woke up on or around day 16 (I didn't really keep track of it), and just felt remarkably better. I'm still no 100%, I feel fine most of the time, but if I over do it, I feel very bad like I'm going to drop on the spot as my energy is just sapped.
The worst thing is I wasn't tested, so even though the doctors said they thought it was the virus, you just don't know for sure as it could be a different viral infection.
