Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Can anyone tell me if having type 2 diabetes is classed as vulnerable, as supermarkets are allowing vulnerable and Over 70‘s into stores early. I’m 68 and have never wanted to be older until today !

I can imagine some of the selfish people sending there pensioner relatives to the supermarkets early to clear the shelf’s

Hi @Roseycheeks welcome to the forum,
Yes, having diabetes is included in Public Health England list of vulnerabilities, well 'long term condition' is which includes those who would ordinarily be offered the free flu vaccine - so those with diabetes are included in that. If you can, it may be worth asking the stores you plan to visit to see if they have their own list of who they're including in these new measures or if you need to 'prove' anything, though hopefully they will rely on the good word of the people attending.

I am slighty younger than you, I neither feel vulnerable , or wish to be older to be able to allowed in the supermarket at certain times.
I am beginning to get annoyed by term. Maybe increased risk may have been less stigmatizing . If I had only recently retired Boris Johnson might have wanted my services. As it is I have had my state pension age raised twice.

Thanks LucyDUK, that’s very helpful information
grovesy, it appears you are very lucky and have not had to go to get your shopping to be faced with empty shelves, l can assure you l desperately need to get some groceries and being able to be let in before the food snatchers would be a lifesaver for me !

I have been faced with empty shelves but I don't do the bulk of the shopping, my other half does. It will be interesting to see if it guarantees full shelves. Early this morning someone I know who had just got off a plane from Egypt, videoed the queue in a Supermarket it was all around the store.
