It was not just vulnerable, it was extremely vulnerable, that will get the letters . I also understand they will, send out in the next. Though I understood it that they had not got the list ready to go.

Thankyou hopefully they might see me in the least vunrable of vunrable catogery and that I can still work

When they were asked which conditions he was reluctant to say what they were. On he reluctant mentioned people who had transplants.

I think it might of been better to have the info prepared ready than having people wait and worrying if they are on the list

Maybe GPS surgery who over stretched will try and look at the patients history and base it on this and could it be that different GPS with put some on and not others and vice virsa in another surgery which will be again confusing but hopefully the will have been given strict info so they know what to do

I suspect this more likely to be done from either Datbases or Hospitals.

Cancer patients in Chemo and some types of radio therapies were mentioned too, also folk with severe COPD but dunno what the medical interpretation of severe is, presumably the NHS know though - hope so cos husband has COPD so we'll have to see what the NHS tell us.

No he was extremely vague, I think he did not really want to discuss this. It was not us I was taking to my/neighbour, my other neighbour must have thought we were made me stood on the doorstep, and my friend, at the end of the drive, she too found it the messaging vague.

I am afraid the politicians are vague about any details about anything. I have watched some of the proceedings in parliament on the subject. You get the sense that lots of announcements have been made but the detail of how they will work still has to be worked out, if indeed they can be worked out at all.

The closing of schools was the same. Well, the schools are not really closing. They are staying open for some categories of students but which schools and who decides which pupils, no definition at all.

I was meaning the Cheif Medical Officer, Boris is more vague than most.
I have a son who is a Secondary School Teacher, as we watched the announcement together, and discussed it later. It was obvious from the outset, like every thing else the announcement has been made but it has been short of detail. Little or no communication of proposals or what might be coming down the line. My son's school had been partial shut from yesterday , only having the upper years in. They had done this with agreement with neighbouring schools. This came about as the schools had been struggling as they had so many staff off.
Yesterday my son only had one lesson to teacher, but spent the rest of the day in an office with others preparing work for going online.

Hello @Elaine Humble

Sorry to hear you are so anxious.

This is from the official guidance and details who is in the ‘extremely vulnerable’ group that are being recommended to completely self-isolate for 12 weeks.

Note: there are some clinical conditions which put people at even higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19. If you are in this category, next week the NHS in England will directly contact you with advice the more stringent measures you should take in order to keep yourself and others safe. For now, you should rigorously follow the social distancing advice in full, outlined below.

People falling into this group are those who may be at particular risk due to complex health problems such as:
  • People who have received an organ transplant and remain on ongoing immunosuppression medication
  • People with cancer who are undergoing active chemotherapy or radiotherapy
  • People with cancers of the blood or bone marrow such as leukaemia who are at any stage of treatment
  • People with severe chest conditions such as cystic fibrosis or severe asthma (requiring hospital admissions or courses of steroid tablets)
  • People with severe diseases of body systems, such as severe kidney disease (dialysis)

Can they enforce this 12 weeks?

With Army at the ready to be pressed into whatever service they may be able to assist with - what's to stop the Government enforcing it some time?

At the moment though it is still 'only' advice so no, 'they' can't and won't.

If it proves we collectively can't be trusted to be sensible about things - then they'll simply have to. As far as shopping is concerned, we've already collectively demonstrated that a good many of us can't be trusted to be sensible. No two ways about it frankly !

Can they enforce this 12 weeks?

Certainly some places in Europe (which some suggest are a couple of weeks ahead of us) have started having police patrols rounding up anyone wandering about for no reason. Or requiring a permit to be out and about.

That doesn’t mean it will happen here, but it is happening elsewhere.
