Hi, I've just started using the Libre and it's awesome. ...any tips from the construction industry in my fields would be appreciated please

Have you had a chat with your H&S person. Are you worried about the sensor getting knocked off? You can get vet wrap to go over it to make sure it’s secure or tegaderm patches. Just make sure the hole in the middle of the sensor isn’t covered (cut a little hole in a tegaderm). And you might want to think about positioning it towards the back of your arm so it’s less likely to be knocked.

Thanks for the heads up my friend, I will try the vet wrap as this looks perfect for me. ...I wonder how vet wrap performs in the shower,I know it isn't waterproof but I'm hoping it keeps slightly miss directed water from the shower head etc at bay....I don't want to get my arm sensor wet but I do find the original sticky tape on the underside of the sensor not very sticky after short periods of time.... i.e. 1 to 2 days...the sticky pad doesn't extend much past the edge of the plastic sensor edge and can easily be pulled away from the skin.....
Can you tell me why you cut a small hole in the tegaderm patch please ?

Kind regards

Jason

The Libre sensors cope happily with showers and even in the bath, although I am careful not to knock it after a good soak in the bath. I use a tegaderm when I am planning to swim but otherwise don’t bother as they seem to stick well.

The recommendation is that you don’t cover the little hole in the sensor as humidity can build up & it gives a less accurate reading. Or something.

Welcome to the forum @Tompy

Some folks use ‘skintac’ prep/spray to help with keeping various devices attached.

As for the centre hole... it has two functions. One is to allow the inserted needle that carries the filament under the skin to work, and the other is to allow the area of skin under the sensor to breathe, and also to allow any water/sweat that finds its way under the sensor to evaporate. I was at a presentation by some Abbott R&D boffins a few years ago where they were very excited about the re-engineered grooves on the underneath of the plastic bit, that had improved moisture escape.
