Had a shock 3 months ago when the doctor told me my sugar was 68 and i was diabetic but it spurred me into action just had my new test results back and now my sugar levels are 49 so happy i'm hoping in 3 months time i will be in remission .i just cut a' lot of the carbs out .

Nice one! Always good to see improvements!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for better results in my next review in May too (but need to put some effort in as well!).

Andy 🙂

Congratulations hippy chick 🙂

Well done, it’s a great feeling when you see the efforts of all your hard work bearing fruit , isn’t it .

Sounds like you’ve made a great start @hippy chick 🙂

Thank you for all your kind words . The reason I became diabetic was self inflicted. After the death of my son last year I couldn’t stop eating so I piled the pounds on , I know he would hate seeing me self destruct myself so I am healing inside and outside and have lost a stone

So sorry for your loss. Deepest condolences for your son. I’m sure he would be proud of how you have been able to turn things around.

Everyone deals with their grief in different ways unfortunately there is also a problem with my nerve ending so I am waiting to see a neurologist and I’ve been told there is a 30 week wait so I have lots of pain at the moment . July I didn’t want to carry on but luckily I pulled myself out of it and have lowered blood sugar . It must be hard for you am I right in thinking the type 1 is hereditary

There’s some evidence of a genetic predisposition in some people, but they are t really sure what triggers it and why some go on to develop it and/or have kids who develop it.

I’m the only person in my family with it to my knowledge.

Thats oodles of stuff to cope with. Just wanted to say Hi and Keep Going.

Not exactly - not really self inflicted.
If you did not have a predisposition to gaining weight and a bit of a problem with carbs inbuilt, you might never have become diabetic - but that is something you were most likely born with, just as much as the colour of your eyes or the tilt - or otherwise - of your nose.
By understanding the problem with carbs and finding out how to deal with it, you should get back to a more normal weight and blood glucose - hopefully that will help you heal.
