Yay just had test results in my HbA1C as at Nov 2019 is down to 45mmol.

Its been quite a journey since February this year.

I see the nurse on Monday see what she will suggest re Metformin dose.

Wishing everyong good HbA1c results, improving with each test.

Have a great weekend one and all. Happy-Weekend.jpg

Yay-hey! Well done!

Thanks Eddy

Great result @Jodee! Congratulations!!

That’s fantastic. Well done.

Excellent result Jodee well done.🙂

Well done Jodee, it is great when all the effort shows results.
I see that you did it by further reducing carbs, portion sizes and increasing exercise. All great strategies but not always easy to stick to.
Do you have any particular tips on things that helped you?

You should be very proud of yourself. Great result, especially after your stressful period when it went up. You did so well to get stuck into it again and make the necessary changes to turn things around. Good on you!

Many thanks Toucan, yes I wasn't able to increase exercise as much as hoped but did stick with the ongoing routine I have which is qigong every morning for about 7 mins (like taichi) and short walks round the block, had a lot of hospital visits since August and stress there too which added to the exercise and remarkably the BG stayed low even with missing some of my meds. I didn't cut out carbs entirely just reduced them to what I once used to consume. The weight kept dropping off persistently and I noticed my BG going a bit on the low side. The main thing with the carbs was only 1 slice of bread at a time, with crackers keeping that below 15g per meal. measure oats and keep generally most cereals around 15g. The main meal I would have more carbs. I included rice or potato but only small spud and about a tablespoon of brown rice, or a bit more if I was hungry. Fruit only had small banana at a time in one sitting, if an apple small apple or half a large apple, same for pears. I did attend the Expert programme for diabetes type II which helps get a better angle on things.

well done good result

Thanks emmgeo - the nurse said I had gone too low and was at risk of hypos but she still wants me to stay on 1 x 500mg daily for next 6 months, she said she won't test me again for another 6 months. I am introducing more carbs now and will keep an eye on my blood glucose levels if they start going too low or if I do start getting hypos I shall probably lay off the Metformin but will make the nurse aware.

Many thanks Barbara

My body is a rule unto itself I think, it starts to fix things and blow me during all the effort of bringing the BG down I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I didn't know if I was coming or going. Any way I've had the surgery and margins are clear and not in lymph. I have opted not to have chemo or radiotherapy because for me that would have resulted in further damage to my lungs and a reduced quality of life. I am thankful it was caught in its early stage as it was invasive and fast growing the type of cancer I had was called triple negative. Thankful I've survived yet another ordeal. Hope my body now keeps on fixing things.

My very best wishes to you and all here.
