Hi guys,

I'm quite a big into walking and occasionally jogging. Every now and then, before I had diabetes I might get the odd callus on my foot, maybe a small cut if I am just getting used to new trainers. What is the best way to deal with these sores or calluses? I do not have neuropathy at the moment so I'm coming from a newly diagnosed point of view

Thank you!

Same way you did before. (Obviously, keep track of such things and if there seems to be some kind of problem then seek medical advice. But you presumably would have done that before.)

As Bruce says same as you did before. I do a lot of walking and get the odd blisters etc, I just deal with them as I did before diagnosis. If I'm worried about something I just see a nurse at my surgery.

I used to walk over mountains - never had a blister or a callus - I have always bought boots which fit well - never accepted anything which pinched or was loose on my foot when wearing the socks I'd have on for walking.
I do make my own socks though - seamless with a high wool content, and I'd take several pairs of thin cotton socks to change throughout the day, to wear underneath.
Some of my footwear was quite expensive but I have still got a lot of it - I don't think I'll wear it out now.
