I opened a new pack of test strips over the weekend and they seem faulty. They don't draw up the blood sufficiently if you understand what I mean so I am constantly getting error messages saying not enough blood.

I began to doubt my technique (even after all these years!) but I have opened another box with a different batch number and they work fine.

I have 3 boxes of the dodgy batch. Wondering who to approach about it and whether the whole batch is actually affected.

Batch number 498287 expires 11/2020

Years ago I had problems with a batch on One Touch strips I rang them and they replaced.

Pharmacy have replaced the two unopened ones but not the other. Very frustrating. I have told surgery that my next order will be early. I feel a bit annoyed to be honest. Off for DSN appointment now!

I had problems with a pot of strips a few months ago, cant remember if I posted it here but they weren't very interested when I emailed them either, they did however just replace my aviva expert meter although I only asked if there was any solution to fixing the issue I was having with it as it was only temperamental at times, I am however waiting on them getting back to me regarding registering my new meter as there wasn't a warranty card in the box and I cant do it on the website at the moment and I've lost my voice so cant call 🙄 I'll check the boxes I have in the cupboard and see if any are from this batch and use them next to see if I have a problem too xx

Sounds like Roche have the same condition my dad often says he suffers from, it's CBA (can't be arsed!) Sorry you have lost your voice, hope you soon feel better. I also hope that you don't have any of the dodgy batch but good idea to check.

Thanks for the alert, I’ve just picked a new prescription up, (they’re the same use by date, but only the first three digits are the same on the lot number). I’ll try them out before they’re the only ones I’ve got left.

Hopefully you will be ok but there's no harm in checking.

I don't see many using that phrase but then there aren't many british residents where I am 🙄 I forgot to check this afternoon but I'll be needing a fresh pot tomorrow so I'll get it done then, thanks! I've had a cold for near on 5 weeks now as just when I'm getting rid of it Bruce keeps passing it back to me so it's getting rather frustrating as you can imagine haha xx

Sorry I disappeared, Kaylz I have been ill with a gum infection. Oh I hate it when it just keeps going back and forth between the two. Paul works at a betting shop and always has tales of people being ill. I get all anxious and if he does go down with something I follow him round with antibacterial wipes lol. I hope you soon are both well again.

@Flutterby oh no I hope your feeling better now, if not I hope you feel better soon! I've still got a stuffy nose, seems to be the only part that wont shift :( he's got sympathy for his friend who got a cold on Monday even though I'm into either the 5th or 6th week and has no sympathy for me! Bruce is a labourer but he does blasting as well and the guy that blasts most of the time has a grandson at school, they share a blasting helmet so that's my problem (I wouldn't be, I don't think that's hygienic in the slightest!) xx

Sorry I didn't ever return! I got quite unwell ended up having 3 courses of antibiotics and then finally had to have 2 teeth out. Then I got an allergy to the antibiotics - no wonder that I forgot about this post!

Well I hope you are now better and as for the unhygienic sharing of the blasting helmet - yuck! I wouldn't do that either. Hoping this year is healthier for us both.

I only looked again at this thread as I had another pot of strips misbehave today. Same batch yet dispensed just a few weeks ago. I have emailed Roche this time.

Goodness! Sorry to hear that @Flutterby

Hope you are feeling better now. (((Hugs)))

It took a further 3 weeks and then suddenly I woke up feeling better. My GP practically ordered me to get the teeth out in the end! The dentist finally agreed. I am much better thank you. I have a dental check up tomorrow, hoping to get the all clear!

An update to the faulty test strip issue. I had a response to my email telling me to ring the accu-chek customer care line. I predicted this would have the same result as last time, basically not interested but I was wrong. Having explained the problem, I was transferred to the technical department who asked some more questions and said they were aware of this issue. It appears that some small, independent pharmacies are not going through correct channels to get supplies but are "trying to save money"

He is replacing the strips and their investigations continue. He said he might email me for more information.

Do report any problems to them and the particular lot number in this case is 498287.
