As diabetics, foot care is really important and as someone who has suffered with dry skin and keens on my hands and feet all my life I wanted to share information about a product that I discovered a few years ago thanks to a friend of my sister who very kindly gave me my first pot of the stuff.
The product is Margaret Dabbs Foot Hygiene Cream and as far as I am concerned it is worth it's weight in gold. I have tried many products over my lifetime including Flexitol which is pretty good but seems to encourage/speed the development of callouses.
The Margaret Dabbs is part of a range of spa type treatments and appears expensive but you use such a small amount it lasts a very long time. It has multiple benefits including preventing athletes foot and keeping skin supple and moisturised and it smells lovely. It contains tea tree oil and emu oil as well as salicylic acid. It comes in the form of a solid pot of waxy oil with a little spatula to scrape some off but liquefies on contact with the skin. If I shop around (usually on ebay) I can get a 150ml pot for about £25 including p&p and it lasts me a whole year and my feet have never been in such good condition.
I survive on low income and spend very little money on life's luxuries as I am a down to earth, outdoor, tom boy type but this is the one luxury item that makes my life so much less painful and is a pleasure to use... feels good and smells good. I really can't rate this stuff highly enough and was surprised that a search of the forum for it did not bring up any hits, considering that foot health is such an issue here. Anyway, I just wanted to recommend it to others because it makes my life so much more comfortable. It makes a great gift if you feel it is too expensive to treat yourself but have a birthday coming up and your significant other is looking for ideas.
