Cooked v Uncooked Porridge Oats

According to the article in the link below, cooked oats have less carbs and calories than same quantity uncooked.

I was always partial to soaking the uncooked oats in water mashing in a few fresh berries and adding a dessert spoon of yoghurt, especially during summer months and to have it on the go. After reading the article it seems cooked is the way to go.

I am eating probably only half a cup myself, but the comparison is huge.

Cooked oatmeal, a cup will have 166 calories, about 6 grams of protein, not quite 4 grams of fat and 28 grams of carbohydrates.

A cup of uncooked oats you'll be getting 307 calories, almost 11 grams of protein, a little more than 5 grams of fat and almost 55 grams of carbohydrates.

I guess it depends if you want to put weight on or are focussed on losing a few pounds.

Only if you are measuring the cooked oats after they’ve been cooked, according to the Livestrong article, because cooked oats have soaked up liquid, so you can fit fewer of them in a cup (or if you weigh them, you'll be weighing the water and/or milk).
Provided you do the measuring out when the oats are raw, and treat that as your portion, you’ll get the same carbs/calories etc whether you cook them, soak them, or neither.
