Just clicked on @Julie16 's profile and that says she's been asked to try FIASP in a pen and wonders if anyone has any advice - but she hasn't actually asked that on the forum.

Assuming she'd like advice I throw it open to anyone who's used it in a pen. I haven't used it at all - but would like to ask Julie why her adviser has proposed this change - what do they think it will help her with?

I dunno that Julie is newly diagnosed - she must have been using another insulin in the past (she's T1 so nothing else works) for them to suggest she changes to FIASP which is a newer insulin than either Novorapid, Humalog or Apidra.

I don't know what the properties of FIASP are alleged to be or whether it actually does it.

TW mentions that you are considering using FIASP. I have not used it in pens, but did use it in my pump.
It would be interesting to know why the change of insulin was suggested.

I was keen to use the fact that FIASP is slightly quicker acting than Novorapid. It was quicker, and meant I was able to deal with meals out, where I could not pre-Bolus as easily. This was definite pro for the insulin, but for me it stung on every delivery, and in my pump I had to change my cannula a lot more often, with sore skanky sites. I stuck with it for six months, and in spite of the benefits of the speedier action, the stinging made me go back to Novorapid.

Others, such as @everydayupsanddowns, found the ’quickerness’ of FIASP wore off after they used it for a while.
 
I have type 1 diabetes 24 years this year, my control isn't to bad, I also have coeliac disease
 
Fiasp was suggested by the diabetes nurse, I'm not sure why as my sugars are quite stable
 
I use Fiasp in my pump and have no problems with it.

Definitely worth asking what the thinking is so that you can make up your mind. You may have to change your approach to certain meals if it does act as fast for you as it is supposed to (I did before it slowed down for me, then I gave up on it in the end as the benefits had disappeared and I was only left with new problems!).

Could well be worth trying, as it works brilliantly for some - but find out what they are specifically wanting to tackle with it first, otherwise it's just change for change's sake 🙂
