my husband is the cook and a very good one! He is however in denial of my T2. His mum lived to 103 eating ' whatever she wanted', she was healthy and died of ....old age.
I have cut down on my alchohol drastically, not finding that a problem & cut out chocolate, cakes & biscuits completely without any problem. On medication for stress, not diabetes related. Am currently finding I have no energy at all. Not helping is the ' you've been like this for ages you need to do something about it, stop reading all that stuff & stressing just eat in moderation' means well bless him. Moan over.

Sounds like your husband is in a bit of denial.

When i was diagnosed my OH had some trouble getting his head around it all, as I hadn't had no symptoms, was full of energy and generally very well in myself.

What help d him get his head around it was my buying a meter, showing him the non-diabetic blood levels, then testing myself. Hen he saw those bigger numbers, he really took it seriously and got right on board.

My OH is the main cook in our house too, so it was, and is important to build and maintain some understanding for him.

Could that approach work for you?
