Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello everyone. Feeling sorry for myself. Colleagues with type 2 diebetes at work eat whatever they want and they are fine, so they say. I eat the same thing and be reach 20.
I'm on humulin m3 and when I'm good it works. On 20 units am and 18 units pm. Is this too high? Stopped going to DSN for now. Gained 9lb in 3 1/2 months.

We really can't go by what other people eat - your meter is telling you all you need to know about your blood glucose - I am lucky in that I can keep my glucose levels down on diet alone, and can eat 40 gm per day and still have numbers around 6 mmol/l - but if I saw that they were going up, then I'd be prepared to go lower - and would be pestering my doctor for reasons why.
I really do urge you to act on what your meter is showing you - many type twos can get down to normal numbers, some without any medication - but not by doing nothing about high readings.

Thanks for your feedback I have anxiety find it stressful living to my meter. I think I need to start slow but not sure where to begin. Maybe concentrate on breakfast and morning number for a month. If I look at the big picture I am overwhelmed. Thanks for listening. When I'm good my finger prick number is 8. Still not where it should be.

Your idea of starting by sorting out one thing at a time is a good one. Breakfast will be a good start, as you can focus on your pre breakfast reading which will tell you about whether your overnight insulin is working, and then sort out what your body can tolerate for breakfast. That is often a difficult one as so much that is offered for breakfast is very high in carbs. However there are alternatives. You could try keeping a log of what carbs and how much you eat alongside your readings.

You mention that you have stopped seeing your DSN. They can often help when you need to adjust your insulin, especially if you have your log and readings to show. They can also provide support when all things Diabetes can seem overwhelming.

Hi @Amerbit I`m afraid its an individual decision, what suits one is through looking at that meter to see if it suits you. You are on insulin not easy we know but you have control of your Diabetes, you need to stay close to your DSN
