Hi everyone, I'm new here and here is my story. I have diabetes since i was 2 years old. I'm very obedient during my childhood. When i became a teenager i only know that i can eat anything i want as long as i don't eat too much. Now I'm 25 and I'm feeling many complications due to my diabetes. I have high creatine, potassium, and other things. I also peeing my protein out. In 2 months i will be meeting mt nephrologist, ots my first time meeting a nephrologist. Hopefully i can be healthy again and learn that i need to control myself.

Hi Joot

Welcome to the forums. They are a great place for advice and support.

Wow that's a bit of a rollercoaster of a story!! I too had great control for years after diagnosis but the rebelled badly and didn't look after myself for a long time. I'm now back on the straight and narrow and doing good generally. Don't be to concerned about seeing the nephrologist as it may be that they have caught your problem early in which case they can correct it. I take ramapril for my kidneys to protect them and I also see a nephrologist about every 3 months just to keep on check and make sure my kidneys are healthy.

Hope all goes well for you and don't be scared to ask anything at all

Mike

Welcome to the forum Joot. Glad that you have found us and there is plenty of help available on here.

I am sorry to hear that you are now experiencing some complications due to your diabetes, but pleased to hear that you are now looking to get back on track. What do you think is the most important thing to sort out at the moment? Please ask any questions you have, and know that no question is considered silly.

Right now I'm doing ny best to be back on track, and also avoiding fruits and dairy products. I also need to monitor my glucose levels

Hello Joot and welcome to the forum, glad you've joined us 🙂

I'm sorry to hear you are facing some complications with your diabetes and hope you can get the help to make things more stable. Since joining this great forum I have learned so much from reading what others do to try and get tight control. I hope you find it as useful 🙂

My kidney function started to decline about 25 years back and I had a few issues. I take Irbesartan to try and protect my kidneys and for the past decade with tight glucose control I have managed to prevent any further deterioration in my kidney function. I hope all goes well with your nephrology appointment and things start to settle for you. Best Wishes.
