I have an appointment with the nurse tomorrow morning for the usual BP check and foot check and all the other stuff. I already know I'm probably going to get told off because of my feet! After doing the Moonwalk near 3 weeks ago my feet aren't looking great, healing blisters and hard skin on the base of my feet and one lovely purple area under a toe nail which is bruised from the walk.
I still have full feeling in my feet but know that I am going to get a lecture. Walking is the only exercise that I do and while I can still do it I'm not going to stop!

I feel you pain! I have something going on on the bottom of my foot, did go to the doctors some time ago and they gave me steroid cream but it just hasn't cleared up. really should go back but I have so many appointments for this that and the others it's fitting another one in!

Hope your appointment is positive Stitch. I love walking too.

Sorry to see this Stitch, I hope they aren't bothering you too much, as for a lecture just point out what a great thing you did in raising money and awareness and what an achievement you feel it is! Good luck with the appointment and I hope you get the answers you are looking for to your questions, let us know how you get on! 🙂 xx

Ooh, Stitch, that sounds painful! Good luck with your appointment tomorrow - let us know how it goes 🙂

My feet aren't painful at all, the blisters I dealt with at the time during the walk when I felt them developing, so its mainly the skin now that's healing. And the bruising under the toe nail didn't show up for a few days and it isn't painful at all. But I just know that something will get said about it.

Hi. The feet thing and diabetes can get rather silly. If your BS is around normal and you haven't had circulation damage in the past then why would you feet be more of a problem than for a non-diabetic? The NHS is a bit obsessed about checking diabetics feet rather than doing some other more relevant tests.

You WILL NOT get told off from anyone on this forum Stitch.o_O I drink a fair bit of Diet Tonic Water. Good for circulation, cheap, & got a hint of lemon in. No Gin 😱. Good luck Stitch

Firstly. Well done on completing the Moonwalk! I am still building my walking up so I’m impressed with your achievement :D I thought the risk with feet was only if our bg was not under control? I have started moisturising mine every night to avoid hard skin, I use a cheap pound shop body butter and the results are great 🙄 where do we stand in having any foot spa treatments or pedicures?

oh do tell which one! lol

I think you would have to check with the place you were planning on going to, some places would do treatments whereas others possibly wouldn't x

Well, I didn't get told off, I got congratulated!!! She congratulated me on being active and completing the Moonwalk. Told me I done the right thing about stopping on route when I felt the blisters forming and dealing with them straight away. Said not to worry about how they are healing as they are healing well. My bruised toenail should just go and should be fine but to keep an eye on it and go to see her if I am worried at all. She then checked my foot pulses - all present and correct and nice and strong, and done the tickle test - all good. She checked my weight and we had a good discussion about my frustrations. She looked at my food diary and suggested a few things but she is happy about what I eat. Blood pressure was all ok too. My average is 112/72 (I take my own readings at home and they take an average as they always go sky high when in the surgery!).
So all good and don't have to go back until next year, unless I want to go back to see her for anything.

Great news, Stitch.🙂

Now that’s what I call a result! Well done. I also do a lot of walking and I was told my feet are “ grand” that’s the exact words she said! 🙂

Brilliant news! Congratulations on all the hard work paying off 🙂
