Hi all. After really trying to make changes this past 3 weeks and BG levels come right down and into single figures, .Hba1c back from lab, and gone up from 80 to 89. I know the rest of the time I hadn’t been so good but really upset and quite worried now. See nurse next week, but never seen that one before.exercise is also definitely on the cards. Sorry to moan

So sorry to hear of your results, @Carolg. It's not a huge jump, but hope you have a good appt with the nurse & can get it sorted.

Thanks Mark. Maybe I just made the changes too late. Och well. At least I can make the changes, just have to stick to them

Sorry to hear that its gone up Carolg, I know that you have been trying hard lately. Hope your appointment goes well. X

Thanks stitch 147. It’s friday next week for appointment, so see what comes about

Ah sorry to hear that Carol. I’ve had that where earlier not-so-good numbers have hung around despite several weeks of better numbers close to the A1c check, so it’s not just you.

Hope the appointment is good, and that your effort is recognised rather than the numbers focussed on too much. After all you don’t know what it might have been without all the effort you’ve put in recently 🙂

Sorry to hear this carol. We all live in fear of ‘the numbers’ and it’s a constant battle.
Sounds like you know what you need to do though and we’ll be there to support you.
I’m just glad my Hba1c isn’t due at the moment because I need to give my head a shake too and slap the comfort carbs out of my hands!

Hope the nurse can help x

I am a little nervous also Carol as I have increased my carb level over that past few months and will have my second HbA1c test when I get back to civilisation next month.
Don't apologise for moaning, seems to me you know what do do and lets hope your appointment goes well. +9 although in the wrong direction is not a catastrophic result and you can pull it back I am sure .
Stay positive.

Carol remember that's the figure for the last three months...you have been making such an effort to keep those BGs in line...but that's won't show in this HbA1c test but will likely be reflected in your next one...its hard managing this bloody thing particularly when we have additional stress...work...grieving...sometimes just everyday life...on a positive note you can identify where/why the rise occurred...you lowered those BGs in the last few weeks...when you see the nurse have a discussion with her...tell her your results for the last few weeks (how good they've been) & how you plan to address the rise...any appointment with our HCPs should be positive even when the results we get are not those we or they would want...don't worry too much you know how to pull this back🙂

This is the key @Carolg, you know what to do, and you've been successful recently, so remember that much of that figure relates to the past, and none of it to the future 🙂 Hope the appointment goes well, and is constructive, not negative 🙂 Be sure to talk about the positive changes you have been already making, and the improvements you have seen - don't let the nurse think that you have done nothing, because that is simply not true {{{HUGS}}}

So sorry to hear of your results, @Carolg. It's not a huge jump, but hope you have a good appt with the nurse & can get it sorted.
Precisely Mark...those appointments need to concentrate on how to address the rise...how we think it happened.

Thanks everyone. The comments were so kind and positive , they made me want to cry. Going to walk to beach to meet daughter and lovely dog, so exercise and feel good factor. Thanks again all

Never mind. I have just had a disappointing result too. All we can do is keep at it. It sounds as though you have really tried and you need to make that clear to the nurse. What neither of us can do is to give up on this. It is not a huge change and you do know what to do, as I do so let's just get on with it. Hope you have a good appointment. Enjoy the sunshine and the beach. 🙂

Its all good Carol...a great start to your weekend...I have been neglecting my exercise recently...my figures are a little higher than I would like...so upping my activity too...have a good day.

Thanks happydog. Just back and a very happy and wet dog going home to dream of waves and balls to chase, plus 3916 steps for me

Fantastic Carol! There's nothing quite like taking a beach-loving-dog to a beach to make you feel happy. Sand EVERYWHERE but it's a small price to pay :D

Try not to worry too much, mine went up again , it is frustrating, DN may suggest a change in control or medication. Just keep up with the changes you have made and it will be reflected in the next test.

Don't concentrate on the HbA1c ( the bad news )
Look at your recent improvement with your blood glucose (the good news)
and keep up the good work.

Also bear in mind that HbA1c is skewed to more recent concentrations - so if you had not made a recent improvement
the HbA1c would be MUCH worse.

Again, thanks everyone
