When I first started monitoring my b/g three months ago two pieces of white toast and butter drove my reading up to 14.1
Don't laugh but yesterday I bought two packs of hot cross buns, completely forgetting I could no longer eat them.
As my two hours after eating last night reading was 7.5 I weakened and had a bun with butter, two hours later my reading was down to 7.2.
Surely it should have been far higher, or was it the effect of the butter?
Today's morning reading was 7.8 which is fairly average for me so no affect on my next day reading either.
My other though is it possible that, as I have drastically reduced my carbs intake my pancreas is coping better with what I eat and producing more insulin.
Mast a thought.

That was brill - not only flour and sugar, but also the dried fruit - and yes you are right, the butter would slow it all down so I wonder how high it went after the last test, before having all night to get it back down again!

You can't guarantee you'd have the same results again of course but no doubt the other buns in the packet could feature in future experiments! LOL

Enjoy your scientific research on yourself.

Hi Jenny

Experimentation continues, two hours after dinner reading was 6.2 so full speed ahead with another bun.
Watch this space as the wishful thinking bubble could be burst at any moment.
Had my blood test on Thursday with no need to go back now for six months so any fall from grace won't be detected by September.

Wil be nice if you can eat hot cross buns with no effect. I tried one last year and the rise was massive so none for me this year :(

Up from 6.2 to 7.1 at 10.30 and 8.1 at 12.30, after that it can do what it wants to because I am going to bed!

How much butter did you have, LOL? 😉 Great to hear you can eat HCBs, Jackie. What’s next on your list?

This is a great experiment! Last year I scoured the supermarkets for the lowest carb hot cross buns & found Tesco's value ones the best, probably because there is hardly any fruit in them. And they weren't very nice. Quite doughy.

What's next on the list, well!
In about 72 hours "The Irishman" and myself will be scampering up the gangplank of the M.S. Boudicca to enjoy six days of six meals a day plus room service and an all inclusive drinks package
We like to help out Fred Olsen regularly by taking one of their late bookings as a favour!
I think "Willy Willpower" may fail at the first hurdle, does anyone think there is even any point in taking my Codefree with me? although I will try, honest ?

Leave the Codefree at home & enjoy yourself.🙂
