Soooooooo after 7 months of waiting funding has finally been agreed for me to get on a pump!! I am so excited!! Although the hba1c is good I've struggled hugely with issues with basal insulins and dawn phenomenon so hopefully this will sort me out once and for all! I'm expecting lots of hard work and probably frustration initially but omg, I am so damn excited it's unreal! :D:D:D:D

Brilliant news Sprogladite.
Yes a lot of hard work to come but it is definitely worth it, as it has the potential to address the problems you have had.

For sure, I've been getting up at 2am every night for the last year or so to try and control the DP so commitment isn't a problem lol. I've already booked the days off work for the training and follow up appointment. I'm so pleased!

Taking some time off work sounds a good plan. Then there will some more adjustments when you get back to work, but just work step by step, and ask if you have any questions. I still remember how excited I was, but I was also a little nervous on the first day we got connected to our pump.

Oh I'm sure I will be a wreck on the actual day, but an excited one too haha! After 23 years of diabetes and MDI I feel it's about flippin time this happened :D

I’m as so pleased for you. From what I have read on here it will make a huge difference.

Thank you! :D x

Great news, sprogladite. A nifty adjustment of your basal could kick the dawn phenomenon into the long grass🙂

Great news! What pump are you getting?
I'm getting the omnipod! I wanted something with no tubing as i go horse riding and the thought of falling off and having a hoof caught in the tubing makes me feel a bit ill lol. Not that I make a habit of falling off but knowing my luck! Haha 🙄

Thanks @Northerner I'll get myself a copy of the book :D

Yee ha, Sprog! - about time too, but that's not for want of your trying. You'll love it then hate it then as you learn more decide you quite like it before loving it again LOL

Happy learning!

Great - I love my Omnipod - any questions, just ask! I particularly love not having to worry about it in the shower / bath / swimming pool and being able to wear anything. The only downside is having no controls on the actual pod, it is a real pain if you forget your PDM.

Thank you, I will! Yes I did figure about that but then I'm so used to lugging around the libre reader I figured I'd just chuck it in with that lol 🙂
