Just read this - I know it all but why don't I always make use of it!

Foods with a high fiber to total carbs ratio have a lower impact on my blood glucose versus foods with the same amount of total carbs and no fiber.

In addition, the more grams of carbs that come from sugar, the higher the impact on blood glucose - even if total carbs are the same.

Last, format also matters so much – liquid carbs will usually increase blood glucose more quickly than solid carbs, even if the overall carbs are equal.

... which is exactly why full fat Lucozade/Coke were so good at treating hypos and nobody suggests All Bran! LOL

That's a fib Heasandford cos you didn't qualify it LOL

You are just as capable of eating cake as anyone else - but I assume you mean you can't eat it without your BG speeding faster than a rocket upwards, LOL

Fibre doesn’t seem to make much difference for me (in terms of slowing down absorption - it’s vital in other ways of course!) Fat on the other hand is very effective. I have never been given this advice, perhaps because of the low fat dogma that still seems all-pervasive.

I’m the same as you. High fat reduces the speed of the release of carbs.

I have to keep reminding my father in law not to buy low fat custard on special occasions like Christmas because the low fat versions just spike my sugars.

So true....and not to say that I don't ever eat cake either!!
I had cake on Sunday and I regret nothing :D

It's always helpful to see that info spelt out in layman's terms really. It does focus you a bit.
