feel a fool. Fell yesterday going in to work.- some people will do anything to get out of work. Hit a wall on way down(but luckily missed concrete windowsill) broke new glasses, bumped head, forehead, cheek, kneeswollen and scraped, side of foot went to a&e and only there 2 hours. I impressed that first thing triage nurse asked when said type 2 was asked if I tested, and what my levels were then checked himself. Their lancets are a bummer. Then gave me pain killers. Nurse practitioner I say was a bit of the type who looked at 63 year old silver haired woman and say a “wee old lady” my daughter was incensed at the routine question of do you do your own shopping. Are you independent etc...then she asked what I did at work? It’s only a job. Staying at daughters due to “head injury” body today is a bit insulted. Hope everyone else is safe

Oh goodness sorry to hear of this Carol, you must be feeling very battered and bruised! Hope everything heals up quickly for you and you feel tip top again soon! 🙂 x

Ouch ouch ouch!😱 Hope you're not hurting too much Carol and recovery is quick, you take care now 🙂x

Ouch! Hope you're feeling better soon. Glad to hear the Triage Nurse was switched on!

Hope you don't have too much of a shiner!
I know what youn mean about the nurse, I'm 62 and not in the least bit deaf, but our GP receptionist always raises her voice patronisingly when I go in ( thereby making a confidential discussion impossible!)

Rats.
The funniest thing yesterday was first aides had 3 different cold compresses in place and when I was being escorted to car to a&e someone said,”don’t put your glasses on” considering it’s a place for support of blind people, it was quite amusing, especially as I need glasses for everyday life. They probably thought it would hurt my face more.
I was lucky my head and face missed the concrete windowsill. They plan to look at cctv footage so that will be a laugh. There was a lady from local shop rushed to help. A real star, and turns out she was my daughters friends mum

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and kind wishes. Gone home and cosied in, licking my wounds and wounded pride. Snow on again here so glad I am indoors

LOL at the 'do you do your own shopping?' - these are standard questions of course and you do have to bear in mind the triage nurse doesn't know any of us from Adam - so we could all have Alzheimer's etc but just having a 'good day'. I'd have been tempted to answer 'Yes - but I'm open to offers if you want to volunteer!'

You can have delayed shock and things - I did hours and hours after I fell and broke my knee - was absolutely frozen and could not get warm for the rest of that day - went to bed in the finish with my heavy, thick cotton towelling M&S dressing gown on. Middle of the night was wringing wet and stripping cos I was roasting!

Sorry to hear this, sounds very nasty, I hope you recover soon x

Hi Jenny .i know they are standard questions, but felt like an old choockie but when she leaned on my bruised and scraped knee I did think bug??r off. Like you I was frozen although I am always cold, had thick jumper and fluffy dressing gown on till I had a hot bath later. I was exceedingly lucky as no fractures , and added bonus as spoken to my line manager who has suggested that she not see me back at work this week. Also got an extension to study votive-even nicer

Ouch ! Really hope you feel better soon. Always a kicker on the pride isn’t it. Most important is that you are ok. Rest and recover well 🙂

Oww Carol! . I hope you're alright today and your panda eye doesn't swell up too much.🙂

I got asked did I know who the prime minister was and what day of the week it was when I fell over so they don't just pick on 'old chookies' 😉 I hope you mend quickly .

Thanks flower. Swelling seems to have stopped so see what tomorrow brings

Their lancets are a bummer.
Hope you get better soon.....

The lancets I used when I worked for the Fire Dept were brutal, at least they pretty much are guaranteed to produce blood

Tomorrow you will look an awful lot worse, but feel better. The bruising will turn all sorts of vivid colours. You may find your urine changes colour as the broken down blood works through the kidneys. Nowt to worry about, that. And don’t go out in the snow, though I know you aren’t daft enough to do that.🙂

Thanks mike. My friend watched cctv footage, which showed that my foot sort of stopped, not near the lowered kerb and forward and down I went. Shawadawwaddied the wall with left shoulder and face. Don’t want to see footage. Won’t be out tomorrow but there is a wee shop 4 doors down if absolutely necessary..

Once, when I was in A&E, I got asked what the day of week was, and to my embarrassment, couldn't remember! 😳🙄 Fortunately, they knew from the rest of my answers that I was compos mentis, and that single one was just a blip. 🙂
