Great blog Simon. I'm glad that black forest gateaux got a mention too. I think blogs are a great way of sharing experiences.
I do have 1 question, the picture on you blog was that taken in a restaurant in Costa Teguise in Lanzarote? It looks very familiar!

Well Spotted Stitch haha had the biggest ever T Bone Steak oh and errrrrm the Gateaux loll
 
Haha! We go lanzarote at least twice a year and always stay Costa teguise, we go to a restaurant near that one called El Patio.

Great blog . I’m a fan of Black Forest gateaux too, now I only allow myself a small slice tor special occasions.

Funny that, noticed that the style out here in California is very different to the UK, guess it's very much influenced by where the populations of the Chinese immigrants hailed from.
