Last night I had a meal, which previously has caused no significant increase in my BG. I was 5.8 pre food and 9.6 after two hours. I can’t account for the reason except that I lifted something badly in the afternoon which gave me a fair amount of pain in my lower back. Could this account for the spike?

Pain can increase our BG’s but I sometimes find there was something in what I’ve eaten that creeps up and catches me later. Don’t worry if it’s returned to normal. We get spikes for all kinds of reasons.
I’d my BG’s corresponded to the back pain I’m having today, it would be in the 20’s! :(

Pain can affect levels. I don't always get the same results for the same food every time.
